Brazilian Jiu Jitsu

Culpeper Mixed Martial Arts provides classes in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ), also known as Gracie Jiu-Jitsu, and Submission Grappling. BJJ is the devastatingly effective ground fighting style, which incorporates the takedowns of Judo and Wrestling with the ground techniques that the Gracie family brought to public attention in the UFC or Ultimate Fighting Championships TM. In our program you will learn the techniques that allow a smaller and/or weaker individual to utilize superior body positioning, angles and leverage to defend against, control or defeat/submit an opponent in real life or sport environments. We offer traditional gi and no-gi submission wrestling sessions depending on your training goals.

Our proven and effective fighting techniques have been developed and passed directly down from, and through, Rickson Gracie, Jeorge Pereira, Leo Dalla, Lloyd Irvin, Chad LeBrun and Doug Esposito to our Head Instructor Jason Doucette. You will not find a more accessible coach with more time spent training in the art and providing adult learners effective instruction in the Culpeper area.
